The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of town right-of-ways, beautification areas, parks, buildings, and other facilities. 
The Maintenance Department maintains all streets and roadways throughout the Town of Unicoi, 
with the approval of the Mayor, the superintendent
of the roads and the assistance through the Unicoi County Hwy Dept.

This includes reconstruction, paving, and drainage, patching of potholes, sweeping, catch basin cleaning, and grading of gravel roads. 
The department is also responsible for plowing and salting in the snow and ice season, trimming of trees, removal of damaged or diseased trees on town property, and mowing of Town owned property.  The department provides maintenance and care of Town-owned parks, fields, the Pinnacle Trailhead, all town-owned buildings, and the section of I-26 within the Town limits.

In addition to the duties above, the Maintenance Department also provides maintenance and repair of all town buildings and facilities (painting, masonry, and carpentry), new construction and remodeling.
